This is a pretty strait forward plugin. It turns any page into a directory. I kinda used the DMOZ or open directory as a guide and put this together. If you are in need of a directory this one is easy to use and fits into your site without any advanced setup techniques. As always feel free to let me know what you think or report and bug and suggestions to the support forums!

~~Installation~~
1) Upload the wp-directory folder into your plugins directory.
2) Activate the plugin through the plugin admin area.
3) Create a page to put your directory on, or choose an existing page.
4) Add this to the code section of your page < !- -w p - d i r e c t o r y- - > with no spaces, the spaces are there so you can see that there are two dashes!
5) Set the options in the admin -> Directory -> Options page “make sure if you are using permalinks to turn that option on”.
5) To use the quick add widget go to your widget control panel and add the directory widget to your sidebar. If your theme doens’t use widget add <?php widget_wp_directory(); ?> to sidebar.php
6) If you are going to use screenshots make sure you chmod the images/screenshots directory.
You can now start adding categories, subcategories, and sites!

August 9th, 2007 at 4:09 pm @Varun - To add a sub category you first add a category then click on the newly added category name and there will be a form to add a subcategory hope that helps! @prakash - here is what you paste in @tony - same as above make sure there are two dashes on each side. for some reason when i typed in two dashes and published this page it only shows up as one! so it's< ! - - w p - d i r e c t o r y - - > withought the spaces! @Matthew Clapp - same as above @Jonathan - permalinks will be in the next version!! Plus more features.

August 10th, 2007 at 3:45 am I installed this plugin and did as you said with the page (with the two dashes, no spaces) and just the tag is visible and the directory isn't loading. used the without spaces liek you said.
August 10th, 2007 at 4:41 am If you can see the tag then you didn't write it in code view. Switch into code view when you are writing your page and put it in there. Hope that helps
August 10th, 2007 at 4:46 am that did it! Thanks!
August 10th, 2007 at 6:13 am Eric, same situation as chris'. I use code editor and not wysiwyg editor. Even in this case the directory doesnt show up. ( I have included extra dashes as metioned in your comments)
August 10th, 2007 at 10:42 am Eric, great plugin. For some reason, I can get the plugin to work, I can get the page to look like a directory, I added a category and when I went to add a site there was nothing in the category drop down menu in the admin panel. Any ideas? Thanks
