I have been developing in php and making websites for about three years now and I am glad I ran into wordpress. I have started building all of my websites using wordpress because of how well written it is. I haven’t found anything else that has a better plugin or module system or a better way to use templates and styles.
I have started coding plugins for it and I just released my first one call WP-Backlinks. I have plans to make many more and convert any modules I have written for other sites into wordpress plugins. I haven’t found a good mailing list plugins so I think that is going to be next on my list. Although, if you know of any good mailing list plugins that aren’t commercial let me know so I don’t waste my time. I am a big fan of free stuff so I always make my stuff open source.
August 1st, 2007 at 3:47 pm look into a plugin called subscribe or subscribe2 - it should allow you to run a mailing list from within wordpress. Alternatively what a lot of people do is they setup a feedburner feed - then they have the subscribe to this feed via email option.
