If you are writing about something that has a lot of competition you may want to puck something else! Take for example SEO. Every webmaster has an SEO blog about random seo things and I have to compete with all of them. Of course at the time I started this blog I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. Luckily now I know enough where I can start to compete with all these major seo sites. But still if I had been writing about something else I would be dominating that niche right now instead of just getting my feet wet. Of course I have started some other blogs on different things but I haven’t put in the time to make them the best that they could be.

Anyways, take a look at your competition and see if you really want to be in the space. If you do then buckle down because it may take you a little while to get up there with them. If you can devote three solid months to building your site you should start to see some traffic coming your way from the search engines. Then all you have to do is out pace your competitors and you will be the top dog!
