It’s awesome!!!!

I could just leave the review at that but I will go into details. If you are into open source projects for php then you need to check out sugarCRM!! Sugar CRM is a customer relationship management system written in php, utilizing a lot of ajax calls!  I have been using it for about a year and have always found it very useful. This new release is in a league of it’s own.

The new module builder and studio make it easy to add custom modules or edit the existing ones without ever writing a line of code. I use it for more then just a CRM so I have been coding modules to extend sugarCRM to do what I want. Now I can literally make a new module in about 20 minutes.  It used to take me at least a full day to make a module.

You won’t find a better option then this and the best part is that they offer a free open source version. You would think that it would be a watered down version that is just to get you to buy their commercial option but it isn’t. Their are only a few things that the open source doesn’t do. The only reason I can see to upgrade to their commercial version is if you want them to host it and maintain you data backups. If you are a webmaster or at least have some experience with installable php scripts you shouldn’t have a problem administrating this your self.

The new version is still in beta 2 but is very stable from my experience. There is a lot of quality programmers working on this project and have always been know to release very stable beta versions. Still I would take their advice and wait until they mark it a stable to use it for production environments!
