So I have noticed with every new version of software Microsoft releases it’s like they are getting worse and worse. I refuse to upgrade to vista because in my opinion it is still in beta. There are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. You can’t rush the release of a new operating system like they did. It just doesn’t work. IE 7 is garbage and I don’t even check my websites in it to see if they work and look okay. I could really care less.
My stats show that most of my reading are using firefox!!! That just happens to be my browser of choice. With VMwares new cool software that enables you to run windows on a mac makes me want to get a mac. If it wasn’t for the prices I would have already hopped on the wagon. But the fact is I build my own computers and I can get much more power for the buck if I go the pc route. I recently priced out my new computer that I want to get for my home office. It ended being a little less then 2,000 and that thing will be a very powerful PC. Not to metion it will have dual 22 inch wide screen monitors. I you don’t work on two monitors you are missing out. I can honestly say that it is much easier to work on then a single monitor. I guess it does depend on what you are using it for. I will sometimes have 3 or 4 programs that I switching back and forth in while developing a website. I have even thought about trying out three monitors but I think that would create more problems then it would solve. It would be cool though.
One of my buddies who also develops sites declared monitors wars against me saying he will always have more screen real estate then I will. He recently bought a 22in wide. He said if I get two will buy two more putting his total at three. I would have no choice but to get four. If he gets five I will throw up the flag. Once it gets to the point where my weather widget has its own monitor we will have gone too far!
Somehow this post got off topic so don’t be alarmed if I write another one later pointing out all of Microsoft’s flaws.

October 17th, 2007 at 10:03 pm I agree Vista is a steaming pile! I'm interested that you don't test your sites on IE7! Although I wouldn't use it as the interface is horrible, it is actually much better in terms of standards than previous IEs. Regarding your dilema on buying a Mac to get away from Windows but preferring the better value PC hardware, why not try Linux? I run Kubuntu - www.kubuntu.org - which is particularly excellent in my opinion - KDE's network transparent file manager makes web dev a dream. The linux version of VMware is also free so you can run Windows within that as I do for testing. You will find lots of help on the friendly Ubuntu forums and you will smile lots knowing you've got away from the tyranny and bloatware of M$. Thats my advice anyway - I just came here looking for your mailman WP plugin...
