I thought tonight’s debate was much more important than the first debate. McCain had to prove he was serious about his stances on the economy, war in Iraq, foreign policy and other energy sources in order to separate himself from Bush. I thought he did a decent job, but I believe it’s too late to for the public to separate his beliefs from George Bush, and will be the hardest thing to overcome in the coming weeks. In fact, now that Obama has a 6 to 8 point lead over McCain depending on what poll you are looking at (including Fox News), he very well may be our next President. The debate was better than the first, and both candidates came out swinging, more so McCain, attacking Obama on every major issue that was covered in the debate. Did anyone catch what he said to Obama though, referring to him as “that one over there”? Although I’m sure he didn’t mean it, it very well came off as a racist comment and was brought up on CNN after the debate. Things became heated for McCain, but I thought his closing statement and some of his answers were actually more specific than Obama.  We will see what happens next week at the third debate, and don’t forget to vote November 4th!
