The first bit of information about the new photoshop CS4 suite has been released with news that the new version will be able to handle a 64 bit version of it’s software. This is great news for developers who are using Photoshop for very large files with high resolutions and this update to the program will allow more virtual memory and faster load times.
While in the past Adobe has generally kept versions of it’s products for the most part on equal levels between Windows platforms and Macintosh, news that this 64 bit version will be targeted and available only to Windows Microsoft users and a larger bit version of the program is not expected to be developed for this release. Adobe says that they are planning to release the suite in 2010 and at this time have no plans to expand the update to Macintosh Operating Systems. While this has upset many a Mac-user, Adobe states that initially the program update will not differ much from the Macintosh program and it will be some time before a complete 64 bit overhaul of the majority of new Microsoft Processors being put into new model computers will take hold.
