I’m sure everybody reading this knows about the ever so popular Guitar Hero video game series (If not, you have probably been living under a rock). With a toy guitar in hand, you play covers of some of the most well known rock songs of all time as you try and get the highest score, so you can fill an empty void in your life and/or brag to all of your fellow addicts.
Some people play the game religiously, cramming as much free time as possible into the game, and some play it at parties with their friends. Some countdown the days until the new sequel is released, yet others have played it a few times yet decided it was “cool”. Some purchase and play it on every system it is available for, but a small group of people (Myself included) find the game to be an absolute ridiculous concept, a waste of time, and frown upon the things it has done for music.
I’ve played guitar for years. It’s one of my favorite things in the world, and take great pride in it. Real guitar VS Guitar Hero is a rather odd comparison; The two play nothing alike (Despite Guitar Hero being called, well… GUITAR Hero), considering most guitars have roughly 22 frets and the GH guitar controller has 5 multicolored buttons that act as the frets. You tap a particular button as it appears on the screen. And…. that’s it. You don’t play chords. You don’t even really “solo” in the technical sense. You merely tap colored buttons when you’re suppose to. I find it hard to play the game because it’s nothing like real guitar at all and I approach it as playing real guitar.
Hence my main point: Why would somebody rather spend so much time playing Guitar Hero, than learning/playing real guitar? GH is a game, nothing more, nothing less. Real guitar is real music, allowing you to create your own and even *GASP* learn the songs in Guitar Hero games and play them as they were meant to be played: On a real guitar. I even know some guitarists who have played longer than I have and have given up on guitar all together, rather opting to jam to Guitar Hero. Why is this? Do they really find it to be that more fun, simply following a pattern on the screen to play a game that takes no skill what so ever? So what if you get a high score? Isn’t it vastly more impressive to be good at playing real-life guitar? (Now I should point out another argument all together for a GH off-shoot game called Rock Band, in which there is not only guitar, but a vocalist, a bass guitarist, and a drummer as well. Some too play that game way too much, as opposed to actually forming a real band instead of a “Rock Band”.)
I know I shouldn’t tell others what they can and can’t enjoy, but what really annoys me is how some think that if they are so good at Guitar Hero, than they’d be great at playing real guitar. Again: THEY ARE NOTHING ALIKE AT ALL. I honestly wonder why so many would give up the chance to play real music, something that will cherish you the rest of your life, and instead press the blue button and the red button together as it shows on the screen to play a rousing performance of “Free Bird”.

Have a special occasion coming up? Birthday, anniversary, or maybe just want to let someone know you are thinking of them? Flowers are always the perfect choice. And in my opinion 1800Flowers is the perfect place to get them. I have a very large extended family that is spread out all over the country and I don’t think a card is enough to show them how I feel. I have sent a lot of flowers in the past year or so and I always go with 1800flowers. They have a great website that shows you everything in detail and its easy to use and navigate. You can search arrangements by occasion or by specific flowers. Whenever I order from them I know that they are using great florists and the best quality flowers. They also have a twenty-four hour phone number you can call for any additional help you might need. During a very difficult family time I was able to go to their site and call them to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. And when you do call them they are extremely warm and friendly and offer great suggestions based on what you are looking for. On top of all that they have extremely reasonable rates and when I signed up for their newsletter I was surprised and pleased to see that right there in my e-mail box were special offers for me. They remind me of holidays coming up that I may otherwise forget and not remember to send flowers in time for. And if for any reason you are not happy they completely replace and usually upgrade your flowers. But I have to say that out of the many, many times I have ordered flowers from them I have never been dissatisfied and my family and friends always love them. And now that I know Martha Stewart is working with them I can’t wait to see the beautiful creations they will come up with now! So go ahead… give them a try and show someone special in your life how much you care…1800flowers

I love technology. I think its a great thing even though I don’t always understand it all. Thats why to me the easier it is for me to use, the more likely I am to use it. Which brings me to my phone… I have had quite a few cell phones over the years but none quite like this one. I am a proud owner of the Samsung Sync. Yes I know there are newer phones out there but I have no desire to give this one up. Its easy to use and all the features that I want are right there at my fingertips. Not only does it have a camera but it plays music better than my MP3 player. I am also willing to admit that I am an avid cell phone user and it is never out of my reach. I love the fact that the Sync is slim enough to fit in the back pocket of my jeans and I don’t have to worry about breaking the screen which has happened with a few other phones whose names shall remain anonymous. And I will admit that one of the biggest selling points for me was it comes in a great shade of red….now I have to go because I am getting a text.

My grandmother always had grandfather clocks …. they were a staple of many rooms in her home, always have been and always will be. I have always loved the look of grandfather clocks and the detail and work that went into them but never thought I could find one that really fit in with my decorating style. That was until I saw one on a site that was modern and unique but still had the flair of traditional grandfather clocks. I could see it fitting in anywhere in my home, I wanted to put it in my bedroom but was afraid that no one else would get to see it… so I had to find another one to go in my living room. Here I was able to find not only the perfect clock for my living room but a great mantle clock as well. So now all you have to do is find the perfect one for you. And just to show it off have a look at mine .

Tax Deductions for Bloggers!!! woooo!!!!
If you make money from your blog and you have to pay taxes- there are a few things you can do to help your situation. Always seek the advice of a tax professional but it helps to have a general idea of what deductions might work for you. Visit blogging tips for more detail.
Internet-related Expenses-you may be able to deduct investments and expenses such as hosting fees, domain name registration fees, blogging software or image/music downloads for your blog.
Computer Equipment-this is an easy one. It could involve your computer, laptop, upgrades, wireless, software of all kinds and maybe a digital camera.
Office Equipment- this is another easy one. Maybe you have a new desk or chair or some filing cabinets?
Supplies-little things add up quickly such as business cards, envelopes, post-its, file folders. You get the picture. Count those paper clips!
Advertising or Promotion- most bloggers invest in some design or advertising each year. This might include your logo, letterhead, paid site submissions or blog design.
Travel and Entertainment-if you attend blogging conferences or meetings you can most likely deduct conference fees, hotel charges or entertainment for clients.
Professional Association memberships and Periodicals- some bloggers belong to professional associations , buy books and magazines or online subscriptions to keep them current in their field.
Office Space-if you work out of your home, you may be able to deduct the rent for your office space and some electricity, water and natural gas. How cool is that?
There are a multitude of little out-of-the pocket expenses that you may be able to deduct but you need receipts and a good tax accountant to take full advantage of them. You might also be able to deduct the accountant’s professional services-how sweet is that???
