Living and working in Destin has brought me close to people that I have met through work. I work at Publix in Destin. Throughout the 8 plus years that I have worked there I have met and stayed friends with some super people. Two of my favorites are Alex and Vicki. Alex used to work for us but retired and we have stayed friends.
They have this little dog named Sweet Pea. They were going to visit family and was looking for someone to stay at their house and take care of Sweet Pea and I said I would do it. Never met their dog I went over one day and was promptly bitten on the back of my thigh by her. Nothing bad just a nip. But she was showing me….hands off chickie.
That did not phase me and I ended up staying the week there with her and all was good. Well..maybe not at first. The first day I was there I came home and brought her a present. Something I thought maybe she would decide she liked me. It really was a cute doggie toy and she was happy to get it. Took it out in the back yard and not 5 seconds out there she buried the dang thing.
I went out and unburied it and she bit me. This time on the finger and it bled like crazy. I cried and sat in the kitchen trying to stop the bleeding. She sat there looking at me crying and jumped up and licked my finger and it was like she was saying she was sorry. Ever since that day she never left my side. I watch her all the time now and I love my little Sweet Pea.
