Would you believe that lightning did strike the same place twice? In my store it did. A couple of years ago we had a bad storm go through and lightning hit something that fried our time clocks and computers.
It was a disaster! Today we have severe weather again and I am working on my computer at work and had been hearing the thunder all morning and the cracks of lightning. This one came down and I swear it was like it went right through the store. Lights went out till the generator kicked in and I couldn’t get my computer to turn back on. All 8 computers in the store were out.
Then someone came in and said they could not clock out for lunch and my heart sunk. Yes, lightning had hit it and the times were toast. We are not sure about the computers but someone from our corporate repair place is coming this afternoon to check them out.
Replacing the time clocks is not as simple as fixing a computer. So until the time clocks are working all 179 associates must write down their times on a sheet of paper so I can enter it into the computer when it is working again.
Last time it did it, keeping track of every ones time was horrible. Just plain horrible. So I am home for a bit then heading back to work where I hope all is well….till the next time.
