Apple plans to release their new innovation under the code “the Surface” in fall of 2008. If you don’t know what “The Surface” is, the best way I can describe it as it appears to me is a giant I-phone shaped like a coffee table that supports an entire operating system and design software. The interface will be able to recognize different shapes, such as fingers and photos and react accordingly. This innovation from the Apple corporation was unveiled earlier this season at CES, and featured five infared scanners, touch resistance plastic skin interface, a projector, wireless modem and will run a special version of Windows Vista made especially for the device. I am not exactly sure what the practical implications of this gadget will actually be, but needless to say it’s interesting and would be really fun to play with digital photos on and pretend that they are real. Outside of that, I am interested to see what the developers at Apple have up their sleeves and whether this platform will launch this fall as expected or not.
