Real guitar is totally different, and for the amount of time one spends on perfecting guitar hero, they can probably learn to play the guitar for real! However, the reality is...it is not easy to feel the same satisfaction that comes from playing with a band (even a virtual one like in GH) and I think that's what makes Guitar Hero more fun for the average folks, even the non-musical ones - You get to be the rockstar! And you have the rest of the band jamming with you, with quality sounding music you can't really mess up. That in and of itself is a thrill, and is probably more fun in a way, than learning real music alone in your room. ;)
