“The Scenario” You hire a SEO firm to get you to the top of google and you give them a bunch of money and you sign a one or two year contract. Everything looks good until your contract runs out. Google does an update and your gone. What the f*** you say to yourself. Where did my site go.
What most likely happened was your seo firm had a few of their sites with a pr7 or 8 linking to you and the second your contract was up they removed those links and you no longer had any good back links pointing to your site. You have to be careful these days with SEO firms. Make sure you read up on the subject and constantly ask them questions. Go through your contract throughly and make sure you fallow up on everything they are doing. Don’t pay for short term page rank it’s not worth it. Always make sure that the back links they provide for you are not on sites that they own or are affiliated with.
This technique is also done a lot when people are selling their domains with a high pagerank so watch out.

July 29th, 2007 at 2:03 pm I never realised that SEO firms could be so sneaky! What you are actually paying for is a high PR backlink which you probably could have bought much more cheaply from a more relevant site to your own. Thanks for the heads up on this scam.
