You have probably seen the words ads by Google all over the web. Why are so many webmaster turning to Google to make money off their sites? The relevance of each ad to the content on the page is like no other. Google in my opinion has the best ad program around. Let’s say you write an article about Search engine Optimization and put Google ads on it. Their will be ads for SEO companies and services, without having to create keyword lists or manually match different content to the right ads. Since your visitor is already interested in the content on the page they will be more inclined to click on an ad.
Another plus for Google is that you don’t have to have massive amounts of traffic before you can using their service. It is designed with the smaller sites in mind. The only restrictions are illegal, and adult sites. Pretty much anything that is deemed inappropriate for the majority of Internet browsers Google doesn’t allow. Witch is understandable.
Google’s CPC “Cost Per Click” is the highest I have seen. I have read that people have gotten over $10 dollars for one click, but that could be false. Google doesn’t like it when you reveal how much you are making per click so I won’t go into details. I’ll just say that I have tried other advertising options and there is a reason there is Google ads on my website.
Setting up Google AdSense couldn’t be easier. Select your ad type. Text, image, or both. Select the size and color. If you are like me you set up different ad channels to see what is converting better. So when you are making a new ad you can simply apply the Chanel you want that ad to be in. This will help when you are looking at your ad stats to see what is working and what isn’t. Ad position could be the difference that makes your site profitable or not. After that you simply copy and paste that code that is made for you. And just like that you have ads on your site.
I signed up for ads a couple years ago so I’m not sure how long it takes to get accepted into Google ads. I’m guessing only a day or two, and once you are accepted for one site you don’t have to go through the process again if you have any other site you want to add.
In conclusion if you are looking to start putting ads on a site I would strongly suggest going with Google AdSense!

August 6th, 2007 at 12:15 pm I highly recommend Google Ads but on a second best i recommend also Adbrite.com They are very good as well and they growing very fast. Kind Regards Panagiotis.
August 6th, 2007 at 4:01 pm I have heard of adbrite but I haven't tried it out. I will give it a shot and see how it does.
September 2nd, 2007 at 9:31 am Hi Eric: Yes ... there is something better than Google Adsense and it is an awesome revenue spinner that not many people know about. And its not TextLinkAds or Adbrite. It costs a modest but reasonable amount, but generates a great RIO and you can program it to make ads that look similar to Google ads. These ads link to whatever sites or products you want them to. Clearly if you are an affiliate or have your own products or membership sites, you can link directly to them through this ad system. So, no need for Google Adwords, no advertising costs, and right on your site are Adsense look-a-like ads that link directly to your own products and services and not someone else. When you get click throughs and make sales, you make money ... touted as a much higher revenue earner than Adsense and Adwords by orders of magnitude. Go here and check it out: ### link snipped my Admin "Eric" ### This links you to the ### content snipped my Admin "Eric" ### Clearly you cannot use this on a site where you are using Adsense as you will violate your Google TOS. Cheers, Wayne.
September 2nd, 2007 at 9:34 am Hi Eric, Just a short note ... I left my reference web address off the previous comment #3. It is shown here. Also in line 3, RIO should read ROI (return on investment). Cheers, Wayne.
September 2nd, 2007 at 5:23 pm Thanks for the post Wayne. Unfortunately their is an open source ad rotating program called OpenAds that you can use to display and track any type of advertising that you would like. If you choose to go the affiliate route and link to products and get paid on a cost per sell or action OpenAds will do just that. It has very powerful tracking tools so you can optimize your ad programs to display the ads that are working the best. It will even change ads throughout your site to what is working on different pages and what isn't. I highly doubt that the software mention above is even close to as powerful. It also has a very large community and active developers behind it releasing new versions all the time! If you are interested in this software here is the address http://www.openads.org/ And the best thing of all this ad rotating and tracking script is free!!! Just how I like it.
September 9th, 2007 at 11:55 am Hi Eric, thanks for the info on "OpenAds". This is a very informative site and, as you rightly point out, contains a diverse set of advertising resources that goes way beyond the source I was suggesting in my former comment. The tip will prove extremely useful in promotional activities for my new 20+ site blogging empire, the Internet Millionaire Blueprint at http://InternetMillionaireBlueprint.com, which will be fully deployed during the coming 3 months for an official launch during Q4'07. Cheers and many thanks for your valued advice. Dr Wayne Nowland Founder, Internet Millionaire Blueprint The Best Online Membership Resource For Aspiring Millionaires.
